Stoneware clay is used to make thrown and hand-built ceramics. Some work is thrown on the potters wheel, altered and then carved, whilst hand-built work has different types of foliage rolled into clay slabs at first, before they are cut and assembled. A selection of glazes, underglazes and oxides are used to enhance decoration then work is fired in an electric kiln.
All work is slightly different, even when trying to replicate some pieces there will always be slight variation in size, shape and colour because of the handmade process. This is the beauty of any work made by hand - every piece will always be unique.
